Over the holidays we began working on this in earnest. Here is a rough first pass at creating some kind of logo for the new animated short.

Painting more loosely

One of the things I'm trying with this overly ambitious reference is simplification and using values to keep the shapes less defined. Here are two snippets that are getting closer to what I'd like to achieve overall. I need to keep painting over areas that are too clearly defined, which ironically means this could take a long time to make something look less finished.
